McLean Customs Sayas are all handmade, and custom tailored to your prized piece. You can be rest assured that your knife is protected and dressed for the occasion everywhere it goes, in a McLean Customs saya.
There are two different grades of sayas, with those being the Standard and Premium styles.
Standard sayas are made of poplar, and are made using Titebond III (waterproof) glue. Each Standard saya will bear the McLean Customs logo, and are made with pride.
Premium Sayas are constructed with your choice of hardwood, and/poplar, with Brazilian Walnut being my current "go-to". These pieces will be as close to flawless as I can possibly get, while being made without the use of jigs, or laser cutting. They scream quality and handmade appeal.
McLean Customs Shaving Brushes are top-quality and hand-turned. These brushes are sure to please even the most discerning of traditional wet-shavers.
I only use knots that pass my testing and quality control process. This starts by purchasing straight from one of the best knot manufacturers out there: A company that many of "The Big Brands" use, because of their feel, performance and durability. The second step to ensuring you get a piece that will never let you down is a process that I call "Pre-Blooming". While brushes from other makers come in the same state that they were set, I personally lather your knot with Proraso Shaving Cream and a clean bowl to inspect whether or not the piece is a shedder. Once I'm happy with what I see, I then allow the knot to fully dry, and it is used in my line of brushes.
At the moment, and in the foreseeable future, I will be making all brushes with the combination of loft to diameter ratio and hair grade that I would personally use. This currently is Snow Top, Silvertip, Finest Badger, and World-Class Boar.
